Place :- Village - Pipli, Taluka- Borsad, District- Anand
Pipli Village lies at distance of 15 km from Borsad. Total Population of the village is 3800 and number of household is 760. 78% of people are engaged in agriculture and 22% are involved in animal husbandry.
SHG’s have been set up by Navrachna Trust in Pipli so that women can save their money and use their savings for personal need. In Pipli village, the organization is working with 7 SHGs in total.
Since land holding is minimum and there is no other earning source in the village, there was a need for new source of income activity which will be fulfilled by providing fishing pond in the village.
Most of the people are into agriculture and livestock. Hence, women of the SHG wanted IG activities which can be done easily and have knowledge about it.
During meeting they were informed and guided about the fishery industries and how it is beneficial for the income generation of the society and set up was to be done looking to their need and easy accessibility. Fishing pond is highly profitable and requires less capital and investment.
Noorani Matru Mandal was the group selected as a beneficiary group and Riyazbhai Saiyed was selected to take care of the fishing pond. The group consists of 10 members.
Quantity of fish seeds deployed- 8000 seeds. Proper process was done for this intervention and requisite permissions taken from the government, village authorities and Village development committee was set up as well for monitoring and development process as well.
The SHG have been given timely consultations by the field staff and are supported in running their livelihood. SHG group was given information about fishing pond by the staff and adequate training was given on how to develop and sustain the pond.
